Shinzen Garden

Tour what is possibly the most romantic place in Fresno.

The Shinzen Friendship Garden will provide coupons for a free entry for our participants to tour the garden.  Admission is free, donations to the garden are accepted.

Come tour the peace and beauty of Shinzen and the Clark Bonsai Collection. With landscape views at every turn of the path, your stroll along the walkways is a pleasant and rewarding experience. Discovering the art of bonsai through the notable Clark Bonsai Collection and the sculptures created is a gift to your senses.

Shinzen is a place for exploration, learning, reflection, serenity and renewal. During your visit, please be respectful of the grounds and of other visitors who are enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the Garden.

Shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations prior to February 1st.  Please register early so we can include your size in the shirt order.

Wear your bib on the front and visible.  Bibs on your back, under clothing or folded up in your pocket may not read,

Competitive 5k runners start at 8:00am.  Fun Run participants can start between 8:15am and 9:30am.

Timing begins as you cross the start line, and time will end when you cross the finish line.

Age Group Awards

Awards for Competitive 5k: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for Male and Female for the following groups:

1-6, 7-10, 11-15, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59. 60-69, 70-79, 80+

Age Group Winners receive a Valentine Mug

*There are no age group awards for the fun runs.

 

Map: 2 Mile Run/Walk

The 2 Mile run/walk START arch will be outside the "Group Activity Area", just North of the Shinzen Friendship Garden. Follow the road North, turn RIGHT towards Friant Rd, turn RIGHT on to The Lewis Eaton Trail. Follow the trail South to Audubon, then West towards the park entrance. Turn RIGHT and follow the road into the Group Activity Area and under the FINISH arch inside the "Group Activity Area".

The Fun Run 5k and 2 Mile start together. Walkers will merge into the 5k course, however participants should be sufficiently spaced to allow runners to pass.

Map: 5k Run/Walk

The 5k run/walk START arch will be outside the "Group Activity Area" just North of the Shinzen Friendship Garden. Follow the park road for 0.7 miles. Keep LEFT when you pass a sign that says "Friant Rd Exit". At 0.7 Miles, turn RIGHT onto a dirt trail heading North towards the "Cow Loop". As you approach the "Cow Loop", turn RIGHT on to The Lewis Eaton Trail. Follow the trail East past the compass and turn RIGHT. Follow the trail South to Audubon, then West towards the park entrance. Turn RIGHT and follow the road North into the "Group Activity Area" and under the FINISH arch.

The Fun Run 5k and 2 Mile will start together AFTER the competitive 5k. Walkers will merge into the 5k course, however participants should be sufficiently spaced to allow runners to pass.

Strollers: Note, you will have to travel approximately 200 feet on a dirt trail connecting the road to the Eaton Trail.
